I don’t know about how you feel, but this summer seemed to fly by, even with the heat and humidity. I had a couple of things I wanted to share with you.
Cathy Putnick has been our treasurer for the last 2 1/2 years and has done an outstanding job working with our management company keeping the financials up to date and on target. Recently, Cathy and Mike sold their property and she is resigning from the board. Travis Hurand will be filling in for her on the board until our annual meeting in March. Personally, Cathy has been a delight to work with and has always served Riverwatch above and beyond what was asked of her. As most of you know, Cathy and her husband Mike have relocated to Richmond and we all want to wish them all the best in their next adventure in life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you have done.
We would like to welcome Travis to the board, effectively immediately and have all the confidence in him serving the community as our interumn treasurer.
We are implementing a “Block Captain” program. We are looking for a Captain for South Shore, Riverwatch Drive, East-West Pkwy, Coves Point and BaySide Drive. Each block captain will work with the Architectural Review Committee, headed by Nancy AtLee. Nancy will in turn work with Community Properties, our management company to address any concerns. If you are interested, please let Mike AtLee or Nancy Atlee know as soon as possible. Our goal is to help neighbors understand the by-laws of Riverwatch in a friendly and professional manner, thereby maintaining the look and feel of Riverwatch to meet our mission, which is to grow the equity in each of our properties.
We are fast approaching capacity in the storage yard. Please position your boat or other vehicles in a manner to maximize the space. Also, all vehicles in the storage yard must be kept up, inspected and insured. Due to our growth as a neighborhood, we can’t allow the space to be used for junk vehicles. Also, not crab pots, etc should be stored there. If you see anything out of order, please let Bill Zeller know immediately.
This fall we are going to establish a committee to review the Declarations and By-Laws. Tom Walsh has studied the declarations and by-laws and has offered to participate on the committee along with the board. Anyone else that would like to participate, please let any board member know and once we get a date set up, we’ll let everyone know. Everyone is invited to participate. Just a reminder, all of us are responsible for knowing our declarations and by-laws. If you have questions, please ask any board member or Beth Pryor at Community Properties for clarification before you take action.
For those of you that like the Nature Trail, we are trying to get, from East West Communities, the plat that shows where the access paths are in each cul de sac. We don’t want to clear them in the wrong area and be on someone’s property. Charlie Patullo is the lead on this project. We hope to get this done this winter season.
Over the last several years, we have come a long way to getting Riverwatch updated with landscaping, refurbishing the dock, painting the Pavilion and resurfacing the parking lot. Now we will concentrate building a good maintenance program to keep everything looking good.
I would like to recognize Charlie and Anne Patullo for their outstanding contribution to building Riverwatch into a community. The Friday night happy hours, opening an closing summer season parties, Tuesday and Thursday evening walks have been outstanding. I feel through their efforts we are truly becoming not just a beautiful neighborhood, but building a sense of community going forward, thanks Charlie and Anne. Stay tuned for winter activities. We all have an equal stake in making Riverwatch a premier place to live in Gloucester. Please let anyone on the board know if you have any ideas or suggestions to keep the momentum going.
Enjoy the fall,
Mike AtLee – President
Charlie Patullo – Vice President
Travis Hurand- Treasurer
Bill Zeller- Secretary
Walter Johnson – Member at Large
